Week of Oct 5: Three Head-to-Heads
This week I put each of my products next to one well-known alternative. I wanted to answer one question for each: why would you switch? Here’s the short version.
MarketCrash vs Longtermtrends
Longtermtrends calls itself “The Antidote to Financial Hype.” It’s a strong chart library covering stocks, bonds, gold, the economy, real estate, commodities and crypto. What it doesn’t give you is one overall crash-risk verdict. You read the charts and decide for yourself.
The sharpest reason to switch: MarketCrash does that reading for you. It scores six indicators together: the Buffett Indicator, the 10Y–2Y yield curve, CAPE, the US Dollar Index, M2 and real rates. Then it puts the market into one of three labels: Growth Positive, Neutral Market or Crash Risky. The score is free and updates every hour from FRED and live market prices. If you open ten tabs and still don’t know whether to worry, this answers the question in one screen.
GrabGPU vs Cloud-GPUs.com
Cloud-GPUs.com covers a lot: 30+ providers, 75+ GPU models, and on-demand, spot and reserved pricing. If you want to survey the whole market, it’s a good place to start. For live pricing and availability, though, it sends you to each provider’s own website.
The sharpest reason to switch: GrabGPU shows the stock status the provider reported next to every price. Its in-stock page lists only capacity a provider has confirmed, cheapest first. When I wrote the post, 16 providers listed the H100 but only 7 had confirmed stock, starting at $1.11 per GPU-hour. If you choose from price alone, you can sign up and find nothing free in your region. GrabGPU helps you avoid that.
CheckMyStay vs DoNotStay
DoNotStay looks for deal-breakers on Booking.com, such as noise, bedbugs, mold, hidden fees and safety concerns. It gives each hotel a Stay, Questionable or Do Not Stay verdict and links every flag to a guest quote. That’s a good fit if red flags are all you care about.
The sharpest reason to switch: a hotel is more than its worst problems. CheckMyStay gives you the full picture in about 10 seconds: what guests praise, what they complain about, and an overall verdict. “Great breakfast, loud street” helps a light sleeper and a night owl reach different, and correct, decisions.
Your move
Each of these takes a job you’re probably doing by hand right now and turns it into one quick answer. Choose the one that fits your week:
- Worried about the market? Check today’s crash-risk score
- About to start a GPU run? See what’s actually in stock
- Booking a trip? Get your next hotel summarized
